Healthcare and Socialism

I think that, in terms of healthcare, we are doing too much. While it is bad that poor people don't have money to pay doctors, they might have jobs if the Bailout plan had worked. But, that's another story. Read my other article for that one. Anyway, Congress is fixing something that isn't broken (it just needs a few tweaks).
First of all, I do think that Congress needs to put in new laws about insurance companies dropping you for insurance when you get hurt. Aren't insurance companies supposed to help you when you get hurt? That's what insurance is!!Along with that, kids shouldn't be denied because of pre-existing conditions.
Congress also needs to say that insurance companies can't raise your rate a large amount because you get hurt.
Note: Not all insurance companies do this, just some.
Under the proposed healthcare bill, families will be FORCED to buy government provided insurance, and if they don't, they will be fined. Isn't that Socialist? Dictionary.com says that socialism is "a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole." That basically means that the government is making us buy insurance whether we like it or not.
I always thought that America was the "land of the FREE"(to make our own choices).
